Oxford University

Cortex Club.

Cortex Club is a unique educational forum dealing with cutting-edge topics and significant, challenging issues in neuroscience. Our events are neither as specialized as the usual journal clubs or research seminars, nor as basic as university lectures, but instead, deal with advanced topics in neuroscience in an informal and speculative manner. The format ranges from smaller, rather intense debates to large discussion sessions with capacity audiences led by internationally prominent speakers.

Cortex Club was established in May 2009 by a group of Oxford neuroscience DPhil students spearheaded by Abhishek Banerjee and Dennis Kaetzel and registered with the Proctors of Oxford University in December 2009, with the support of Prof. Zoltan Molnar as Senior Member. It maintains an official university club status under the sponsorship of Prof. Charlotte Stagg and is largely organized by doctoral students and postdocs. However, it is open to the entire academic community from undergraduates to professors and attracts large and enthusiastic audiences.
